JJ The American Street Dog and How He Came to Live In Our House aims to educate children and adults about animal rescue. The author, Diane Rose-Solomon, is a Certified Humane Education Specialist and has been involved with rescue for 18 years since she adopted a homeless dog. Just as she was about to buy a dog from a breeder, the real JJ was found by a friend, and the rest they say, is history.
JJ the American Street Dog is about a little girl name Maya who's been wanting a dog. Right when her parents decide that it was time to finally get a dog, Maya's uncle finds a homeless puppy. Maya's mom is hesitant about keeping a stray dog but she takes him and he becomes part of the family.
This book is a great way to educate children about the importance of rescuing neglected dogs and adopting them from animal shelters. Many children believe that the only place to get a puppy is from a pet shop. JJ the American Street Dog helps to open their eyes to other possibilities such as saving a animal's life by adopting them.
JJ the American Street Dog can be purchased here. Remember, a percentage of the profit is donated to animal rescue organizations! :)
