React Mobile: Free App that Helps to Enhance Family Safety

I love the idea of an app that can alert your loved ones when you're in danger. With the React Mobile app, you're able to let your friends and family know exactly where you are and can send out an SOS alert during emergency situations.

Robb Monkman, the founder of React Mobile, found inspiration in creating this app when he was held at gunpoint during a home invasion when he was in college. He turned this scary experience into something that would help others. In March 2013, the React Mobile safety app was launched.

How It Works

React Mobile has a “Follow Me” feature, that lets your selected contacts track you in real-time whenever you’re concerned for your safety.

"Perfect for running or walking alone early in the morning or late at night, keeping track of kids, or meeting a client for the first time, simply touch the “I’m Safe” button to let your contacts know when you've arrived at your destination safely."

In an emergency, you simply press the SOS shield on the app which then sends out a panic alert containing a link to your GPS location to your selected emergency contacts via text message and email
It can even optionally be posted to Facebook and Twitter.

Once the SOS alert is activated, you’re automatically prompted to dial 911.

Here's how easy React Mobile is to use:

Who Should Use React Mobile?

The simple answer would be: everyone. The app would especially be important for:

  • Children
  • College Students
  • Realtors

I love all of the features that this app has. The fact that you can have an alert set to post on Twitter and Facebook is genius! Many of us have hundreds, even thousands of family, friends, and followers on social media.

React Mobile can be used internationally. When an SOS alert is triggered, you will be prompted to dial the appropriate emergency authority depending on your geographic location.
I already have this excellent app installed on my phone!

You can download it for free on iTunes and Google Play.

My Yellow Umbrella - Children's Book Review

My Yellow Umbrella
My Yellow Umbrella is about a girl with a big imagination who loves her yellow umbrella. She goes on many adventures with her umbrella and her dog, who is usually not too far behind.

This is such a happy book to read to your kids. The illustrations are fun and colorful. It definitely caught Z's attention as I read the book.

My Yellow Umbrella is a book you can read over and over, without getting bored of it. I love to see my son smile at the pictures as I read to him!

As you read, you can point out different things like colors, objects, or how many dots and stars there are. It makes for a great learning experience for kids.

Connect with the author, Chris Robertson, by visiting his website, Facebook, and Twitter.

My Yellow Umbrella is available on Amazon in Kindle version and paperback.

Milk Mom Baby: Preserving Breast Milk in a Keepsake Locket

Breastfeeding has been a rewarding journey for my son and I. He weaned at 17 months and I couldn't be more proud of how far we both have come!

Many of the bonding moments we shared were captured in photographs and a special piece was preserved in a keepsake locket.

The thought of preserving breast milk will probably puzzle you. But in the end, it's no different than a delicate rose saved in an album or a locket of hair from baby's first haircut.

Milk.Mom.Baby

At Milk Mom Baby, you can choose from a variety of lockets that suit your style. The step-by-step instructions are easy to follow and everything you need for your keepsake locket is included in the kit!

Creating a breast milk keepsake locket using the kit provided by Milk.Mom.Baby is a simple process. It does take several days for the locket to completely dry, so patience is a virtue.

Breast milk Keepsake Locket Kit

The locket pictured above is the Inverness Style which is name after the city of Inverness in Scotland. The lockets are uniquely named after personal experiences from the shop owner, Brooke. You can view the other locket styles on the Milk Mom Baby Etsy shop and read more about the story behind their name!

I loved that the kit arrived in a cute gift wrap. Brooke gift wraps every kit and can even include a handwritten note if you are sending one as a gift!

All you need is a stove, a small pot, 2 oz. of your breast milk, and a paper towel. The locket takes a little less than a week to be complete and ready to wear.

I had so much fun creating my locket. The whole process was fascinating to me. I felt crafty and couldn't wait to see how the locket turned out. I can't wait to tell my son about it when he's older. He'll probably be grossed out but I wouldn't expect any less from a boy! <3

Gifting a Locket Kit

These kits make great gifts for:
  • Baby Showers
  • Breastfeeding milestones
  • A get-together with breastfeeding moms
  • Breastfeeding Support Groups

Now that Christmas is around the corner, this will surely put a smile on a mama's face. :)

You can order keepsake locket kits on Etsy and connect with Brooke on Facebook and Twitter.
